A spiffy Sparrow from 1950’s Spain, decorated in a delicious design and adorned with three faux pearls. The craftsmanship on this pin is amazing, for not only are the leaves and feathers a’ swirl with an intricate design highlighted with black paint in the crevices, but the pearls are capped at the bottom giving them the appearance of acorns, and each element is soldered separately giving the whole a surprising dimension. Nice! The brooch measures 2” from leaf to tail and is 1.5” wide. It is in good vintage condition and fashioned with a roll clasp on the back. Made of silver toned metal, it is marked “Spain”. Unusual, elegant and with a bit of whimsy besides, you can’t go wrong with this one.
Pin is shown with a GOTO Warbler, available at: www.antiquebeak.com.
